FREDERICKSBURG, Va., [September 18, 2014] – The 7th Annual TAPS Golf Outing, hosted by EOIR, was a sellout event that raised over $60,000 for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), bringing the 7-year total of money raised up to $350,000. There were 21 total sponsors this year with 3 top sponsors: EOIR, Leidos, and RDM Engineering.
TAPS is a 24/7 tragedy assistance resource for anyone who has suffered the loss of a military loved one. Since its start in 1994, TAPS has provided immediate and long-term emotional help, grief and trauma resources, and connections to community-based care, including mentoring programs and good Grief camp, to more than 40,000 people grieving the death of a service member.
Ron Spratt, Senior Development Consultant at TAPS, called this the most successful year yet and presented Peter Cannito, EOIR’s Chief Operating Officer, with an award, thanking him for EOIR’s support.
“After another fantastic turnout this year, we continue to be extremely appreciative of the extraordinary level of support from the APG community for this worthy cause,” said Cannito. “The sponsors, donors, and volunteers who support the TAPS Golf Outing make a tremendous difference in the lives of so many military families, and I am honored to be a part of this annual event.”
