[March 2015] The 2015 TAPS Honor Guard Gala was held to honor this past year’s top sponsors who helped raise more than $2.1 million to support the families of the fallen. The event was held at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC and had 800 attendees, including senior military officials, corporate and association executives, military survivor families, political leaders, and Administration officials. Peter Cannito, COO, and Brittany Paulshock, Marketing Lead were in attendance to represent EOIR.
A pre-gala luncheon was held at the Army Navy Club in Washington, DC where about 30 sponsors and donors shared lunch with Bonnie Carroll, President and Founder of TAPS, and members of the TAPS family. Eric Dane, star of TNT’s drama The Last Ship and best known for his role as Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, made a special guest appearance and spoke about his father who served in the U.S. Navy and died when Dane was 7 years old. He is an advocate of TAPS and the organizations’ newest celebrity supporter.
The event’s keynote speaker, General Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke of the strength and courage of TAPS survivors and his admiration of the “strength and resilience of the families of the fallen.” He also sang two Irish songs that he dedicated to the TAPS family.
EOIR is honored to be associated with TAPS and continues to support this worthwhile cause with our annual TAPS golf outing. Save the date: this year’s 8th Annual TAPS golf outing is on September 10th at Ruggles Golf Course, APG, MD.
